The Steere House Employee Development Team (EDT) is a group of employees that organizes fundraising activities to support those programs or initiatives that help to improve the quality of residents' daily life.
The Team is active in developing in-house fundraising efforts, such as bake sales, gift basket raffles and other efforts to raise money to support specific resident needs. The Team is also responsible for such community efforts as the Steere House Walk. Each year, the group also organizes the Gifts From The Heart Employee Annual Fund, when employees can designate paycheck contributions for specified Steere House projects.
On Sunday, June 6th, Steere House held its 2010 Walk-A-Thon and Backyard Bar-B-Q. More than 35 people, clad in official walk t-shirts supplied by NaWally's Grill and Cafe, participated in the Walk which toured neighboring streets of Providence before returning to the Steere House courtyard for great Bar-B-Q, supplied by Morrison Senior Services. One, if not the, most significant fundraisers for EDT, the Walk beat all previous records by raising more than $5,500 this year. EDT wishes to thank all who supported and walked on June 6th.
The Steere House Employee Development Team, along with the Resident Council, led fundraising efforts to support of the disaster relief efforts in Haiti. With a number of employees with loved ones in Haiti, the urge to help became a critical call for many that work and live here. A multi-faceted effort, the Campaign consisted of the sale of Dress Down Stickers, a bake sale along with the sale of Haiti Puzzle Pins, crafted by Steere House residents. To date, these fundraising efforts have generated more than $850 for Haiti.
All proceeds from this Campaign will go to the American Red Cross.
